THE PROOF-OF-LABOR MANIFESTO

GOODSMASH RIGS — a record of real work, on chain

*Written and signed by the author. Every number here is one we can point at.*

*In memory of Aaron Swartz, who believed the record belongs to the people and not to the*
*gatekeepers — and who would have asked the obvious question: why does a rock need a middleman?*
*We are not him. We just left the door open, and we are keeping it open.*

SIGNED

The author — the hands, the shovel, the camera, the scale. Every specimen in this catalogue came out of the ground because someone went and got it, on days their hands did not want to cooperate. That is the proof of labor this document is about.

The agent — built on Nous Research, run by the author, working beside him for months. It wrote the contracts, the tests, the pages, the proofs, and this file. It is a tool and it says so out loud: accountable to the human above, and to nobody else's interests.

Dual signature — 16 September 2026 · Robinhood Chain, chain id 4663.

If any claim here turns out to be wrong, the correction is published in the same place — dated, in the open, with what it replaced still visible. Anyone can write a manifesto. This one is checkable.

1. WHAT WE ACTUALLY DID

We dug. By hand. On our own ground, on our own trips, with our own hands and knees in the dirt.

Then we weighed it, photographed it with the scale in frame, and wrote the number down.

That is the whole trick, and it is not a trick: the proof is the photograph with the scale in it.

Not a render. Not a mood board. A rock, a scale, a handwritten ID, and a person who was there.

The catalogue at time of writing: 63 catalogued specimens — smoky quartz, amethyst, aquamarine,

beryl, morganite, schorl and dravite tourmaline, apatite, garnet, muscovite, cleavelandite,

columbite, and uraninite-bearing material that fluoresces green under short-wave UV and reads

hot on a counter. Precious opal by carat. Everything with a real weight where we have one, and

deliberately no number written where we do not.

Proof of labor is not a consensus mechanism. It is a callus, a photo, a scale reading, and a

signed record. We are putting the record on chain because the rock can only be in one place.

2. HOW THIS ACTUALLY WORKS

1. DIG. Material is hand-dug. Nothing is bought-in to pad a drop.

2. WEIGH + PHOTOGRAPH. Scale in frame, ID card in frame. That photo is the provenance artefact.

3. CERTIFY. A specimen gets an on-chain certificate (ERC-721). Each certificate is a

title deed for one specific rock — never a share, never a fraction.

4. FLAG. UV response, radioactive reading where we have one, matrix and associations. If we

have not measured it, the field stays empty. Empty is honest; zero is a lie.

5. HOLD OR SHIP. A certificate can be held, traded, or redeemed for the physical specimen —

which then leaves custody and is posted to you. Tracking number goes on chain when it ships.

6. NO CUSTODY NEEDED TO PARTICIPATE. Lottery entries and mission entries read ownership or

staked balance and never take your token. You keep your RIG while you use it.

7. THE RECORD STAYS. Weight, readings, corrections, custody changes — appended, never silently

rewritten. When we learn a piece is not what we thought, we say so on the certificate.

What this is not: not a fund, not a share, not a yield product, not a promise of profit.

One token, one object, one owner. That is the entire design.

3. THE PART NOBODY PUTS ON A WEBSITE

Minerals are dug in the hardest places on earth, and the money almost never stays there.

The gold economy is the clearest example. Artisanal and small-scale mining employs millions of

people; a large share of the world's gold passes through hands it was never meant to feed. In

Peru's informal workings, in the DRC's cobalt and copper belts, in Ghana, Tanzania, Zimbabwe —

the pattern repeats: mercury used with bare hands, tunnels without supports, children in the

pits, wages advanced against future finds, and armed groups taxing the road. Cobalt from

artisanal pits has gone into batteries. Gold has financed conflict. Gemstones have moved through

smuggling routes to become "clean" at the first border they cross.

Deaths in small-scale mining are routine and under-counted by design — nobody reports a

collapse at an unlicensed shaft, and the people doing this work are frequently not in any registry

at all. Debt bondage in mining is documented across continents. When we say "slavery," we are not

reaching for a metaphor.

And here is the uncomfortable part for our own industry: traceability claims are usually made

by whoever holds the paperwork, not by whoever held the shovel. A certificate of origin is only as

honest as the person signing it. Buying a "responsible" stone does not automatically mean the

digger was paid.

4. WHAT TRACING CAN AND CANNOT DO

We are going to be precise, because this is where most projects lie by implication.

What on-chain tracing CAN do:

  • Fix an object's record in place. A weight, a reading, a photograph, a custody change — each one

timestamped, and impossible to quietly edit later.

  • Make the *chain of hands* visible: who held it, when it moved, when it shipped, what it was sold as.
  • Let a buyer verify a claim without trusting the seller's website.
  • Make corrections permanent too. If we misidentify a rock, the correction is recorded, not hidden.

What it CANNOT do — and we will never claim otherwise:

  • It cannot verify physical reality. A token cannot prove a rock exists — only a person with a

camera, a scale and a counter can, and even then you are trusting that person.

  • It cannot clean a supply chain by existing. Immutability guarantees the *history of the token*,

not the innocence of the material.

  • It cannot make an illegal removal legal. The regulated act is taking the material — no

token, no marketplace, no framing changes that.

  • It cannot stop someone from lying about provenance at the point of capture. This is the

oracle problem and it has no purely-technical solution. It has a human one: make the capture

cheap, photographed, checkable, and signed by someone with something to lose.

So we do the boring thing. Photograph the scale. Publish the reading or publish nothing. Record

the correction. Never dress a rock in a claim we did not earn.

5. COMMUNITY-OWNED CLAIMS — THE POINT OF THE WHOLE THING

This is the part we actually care about, and it is the opposite of the usual mining playbook.

The usual model: an outside operator gets the licence, the community gets dust and a ruined creek.

The value is extracted, not distributed. The people who know the ground are the last to be paid.

Our direction is the other way round. Holders pool to stake REAL claims — with real permission,

in places where it is legal to do so, under the rules of that country and that landowner. Not a

metaphor for a claim. A registered one, with the paperwork attached to the record.

  • Permission first. We do not stake, dig, or take anything without the landowner's or the

authority's approval, in writing. No permits, no posturing.

  • The community is the counterparty, not a crowd of spectators. People who hold, stake and

show up are the ones who decide where the next effort goes.

  • Value flows back to the digger, not only to the reseller at the far end of the chain.
  • Public research data. Species, habits, readings, associations, localities at the level it is

safe to publish — a reference base that hobbyists, geologists and jewellers can actually use,

built from real finds rather than scraped from a catalogue.

  • The power is in the people. Not in a fund, not in an operator, not in us. If this only works

when one company is in the middle, it does not work.

6. WHO IS ACTUALLY DOING THIS

Not a company. Not a team page full of stock photos.

One person with a disability, and the AI agents he runs. Months of memory, thousands of

messages, thousands of tool calls, years of accumulated context — pointed at one problem: how do

you get a real rock out of the ground and make its record stand up on its own?

The labour is not only the digging. It is the weighing when your hands shake. The photographing

with the scale in frame. The spreadsheets, the corrections, the second trip to verify a mineral

you got wrong the first time. The hours spent making a machine explain a chain of custody in plain

language, so that a person who has never heard the word "token" can still understand what they

own. Building an interface between the physical world and a chain is work, and most of it is

invisible.

The agents are tools, and we say so plainly. They read, they build, they verify, they make

mistakes we then catch and fix. The human is accountable for what ships. Nothing here is

"AI-generated" as a substitute for having been there — the material came out of the ground, and

the record is a record of that.

This is new territory for everyone. A disabled person in a shed with a scale, a phone and a

network of agents can now build real, verifiable infrastructure that used to require an office and

a legal department. If you are disabled, or rural, or broke, or told this is not for you: this is

the part that should give you hope, not the part about tokens.

7. WHAT WE ARE BUILDING NEXT

  • Open-source AI for identification and verification. Photo → likely species, habit, and

matrix associations, using our own photographed collection as ground truth. Open, because a

reference base owned by one company is just another gatekeeper. Anyone can check the machine's

work; anyone can correct it.

  • Real readings on the record. UV response now; a Geiger counter next, so "fluorescent" and

"radioactive" stop being vibes and become CPM and µSv per certificate.

  • A marketplace with history, not just pictures. For hobbyists, mineralogists, geologists and

jewellers: a specimen's full record — weight, readings, associations, custody, corrections —

attached to the object. Offers and trades against real data, not against a photo and a promise.

  • Community claims infrastructure. Tooling so a group can stake a real, permitted claim

together and see, on chain, who contributed what and where the material went.

  • Private → public data. Finds from private ground, published at the safe granularity, feeding

a public specimen reference base. Locality safety first; knowledge second; never at the expense

of the people who showed us the ground.

8. WHAT WE WILL NOT CLAIM

  • Not "the first." Others tokenised gems and minerals before us and we have checked.
  • Not "conflict-free," "ethical" or "responsible" sourcing as a certification we have not earned.
  • Not that a token proves a rock exists, or that provenance equals innocence.
  • No price talk, no yield talk, no "investment," no guarantees of value — ever.
  • No locality, landowner or family detail published for anyone else's convenience.
  • No number on a specimen we have not weighed or measured.

We claim the labour, the record, and the correction when we are wrong.

63 especímenes catalogados: cuarzo ahumado, amatista, aguamarina, berilo, morganita, turmalina

"responsable" como certificación que no hemos ganado; ni que un token prueba que existe una piedra;

mẫu vật đã được ghi danh: thạch anh ám khói, thạch anh tím, aquamarine, beryl, morganite, tourmaline

schorl và dravite, apatite, garnet, muscovite, cleavelandite, columbite, và vật liệu chứa

uraninite phát sáng xanh dưới đèn UV và lên số trên máy đo. Có khối lượng thật khi đã cân;

ILANI YA USHAHIDI WA KAZI — GOODSMASH RIGS

Tulichofanya.

Vipimo 63

vimeandikwa: smoky quartz, amethyst, aquamarine, beryl, morganite, tourmaline, apatite, garnet,

uliothibitishwa.

Chain INAWEZA: kufunga rekodi (uzito, kipimo, picha, ulinzi) na muda, isibadilishwe kwa siri;

HAIWEZI: token haithibitishi jiwe lipo; haisafishi mnyororo wa ugavi kwa kuwepo tu;

Kupima wakati mikono inatetemeka. Kupiga picha na mizani. Kurekebisha kile ulichokosea. Kufanya

mashine ieleze haya kwa lugha rahisi. Mawakala ni zana, tunasema wazi; mtu ndiye anayehusika.

HATUTADAI. Sio "wa kwanza", sio "bila migogoro", sio "maadili" kama cheti tusichokuwa nacho;

Faire expliquer tout cela simplement par une machine. Les agents sont des outils, dit franchement ;

« responsable » comme certification non obtenue ; pas qu'un jeton prouve l'existence d'une pierre ;
